Amitayus – “The Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life”
Also known as Amida or Amithaba in Sanskrit is the main Buddha of Pure Earth. He is known for his longevity, his clear perception and deep understanding of the emptiness of phenomena, and its attraction to the red fire element. According to the texts, Amitabha has infinite merit from the infinite number of good deeds he has done in his past lives (as a bodhisattva called Dharmakara).
