Mantra Mandala is encircled by Sanskrit universal peace Mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”. The Mantra has various translations depending on the different schools of Buddhism. One accepted translation is “jewels in the lotu, the Lotus signifying purity. Thee various petals represent good luck, peace, power, and protection. Om Mani Padme Hum is the iconic chanted mantra in Buddhism. Portrayed of six syllables it has the potential to bless the heart and the mind of the practitioner.
Om is the sound or “oscillation” of the entire universe. This sound is the most crucial of all. In the circumstances of chanting and mantras, it aids to remove attachments to ego and encourage generosity.
Ma removes jealousy and encourages being ethical.
Ni removes desire and encourages being patient.
Pad removes prejudice and encourages perseverance.
Me removes possessiveness and encourages concentration.
Hum removes hatred and encourages wisdom.
